The Netherlands will invest 125 million euros until 2027 to promote the use of hydrogen as a fuel.
Led by Environment Minister Vivianne Heijnen, the initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles and infrastructure throughout the country. It also aims to reduce CO2 emissions (the government aims to decrease them by 49% by 2030), while boosting economic growth and job creation in the hydrogen sector.
The Dutch government plans to build around forty hydrogen refueling stations and put into service several thousand vehicles powered by this fuel.
Starting from March 2024, transport companies based in the Netherlands that wish to set up at least one station and operate between 10 and 15 hydrogen-powered vehicles can benefit from certain incentives to facilitate their transition.
“Hydrogen has great potential. That’s why we continue to invest in its economy by providing, for example, certified green hydrogen to Q-Buzz stations,” commented Shell, one of the hydrogen station operators in the Netherlands.
