The two groups have signed an agreement to supply Europe with 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen a year for 15 years, starting from 2030. The cooperation is part of the tender launched by TotalEnergies to supply 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen a year to decarbonise its European refineries.
Under the agreement, Air Products will deliver green hydrogen from its global network to TotalEnergies refineries in Northern Europe. This hydrogen will prevent the emission of around 700,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. “This deal with Air Products, the first signed following the call for tenders launched last year, is a steppingstone towards our goal of decarbonizing the hydrogen used in TotalEnergies’ refineries in Northern Europe by the end of the decade.” said Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies. “Clearly the demand is here, and it will grow significantly as we move forward, playing an essential role in decarbonizing heavy industry and other sectors.” added Air Products’ Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi.
