Daimler’s liquid hydrogen-powered fuel cell trucks are set to be used by Amazon, Air Products, INEOS and more as the German OEM enters its first customer fleet trials.

Following track and public road testing, the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 trucks, from mid-2024, will be used by a range of fleet operators to showcase Daimler’s CO2-free long-distance transport solution.

Five semi-trailer trucks, will be deployed in different long-haul applications on German routes, transporting building material, sea containers, gas cylinders and more. Holcim and Wiedmann & Winz will also take part in the customer fleet trials.

The vehicles will be refuelled at designated public liquid hydrogen refuelling stations in Wöth am Rhein and in the Duisburg area.

Offering a pay load of around 25 tonnes at gross combination weight (GCW) of 40 tonnes, the GenH2 truck has two 44kg liquid hydrogen tanks to fuel two 145kW fuel cells.
