H2FLY completes world’s ‘first’ manned liquid hydrogen flight with fuel cell aircraft

Germany’s H2FLY has completed the world’s “first” manned liquid hydrogen-powered flight of a fuel cell electric aircraft in a demonstration in Maribor, Slovenia.

Fuelled with green hydrogen produced by Air Liquide at its French liquefaction facility, the HY4 aircraft on Thursday (September 7) took off from the Aerodrom Maribor, taking to the skies for around 10 minutes before successfully landing.
