Siemens Energy and its partner Air Liquide have announced the opening of its multi-gigawatt electrolyser factory in Berlin, Germany.

By 2025, the two companies expect the facility to boast at least 3GW of electrolysis capacity per year and brought to market.

The factory will manufacture a series production of electrolyser stacks beginning with 1GW in 2023, 2GW in 2024 and 3GW by 2025, and it will utilise innovative automation and digitalisation technology.

Siemens and Air Liquide signed entered a joint venture last year (2022), which was designed to lay the foundations for a ramp up in electrolysis capacity, with the aim of making cost competitive hydrogen more widely available.
